front The HF-2050 is a double-conversion super heterodyne solid-state receiver manufactured between 1984-1986. The HF-2050 was manufactured in Canada for Canadian military customers. The HF-2050 was the first production receiver to use digital signal processing at the IF. Design Features: 1)Weight: 38 lbs. 2)All-mode rack-mount frequency-synthesized communications receiver 3)Tunes 14 kHz to 30 MHz. 4)Early versions had thirty memories, but later production receivers had 100 memories. 5)IF selectivity settings of 0.3 kHz, 1 kHz, 2.8 kHz, 3.2 kHz, and 6.0 kHz 6)Three user-selected tuning rates. 7)Dual-speed AGC 8)Adjustable noise blanker 9)Squelch 10)Variable BFO 11)Small front-firing speaker. 12)Microprocessor controlled 13)Built-In-Self-Test (BITE) mode 14)Malfunctions generate front panel error code. The 851S-1 Receiver was an outgrowth of the HF-8050/8054 series of receivers. It was in production from about 1981 to 1989. It used conventional 450 kHz IF with very high performance crystal & mechanical filters for selectivity. It’s synthesizer tuned in 1 Hz steps and could be computer controlled.
