233D Transmitter Restoration Project

We’ll light the filaments on the final amplifier tubes tomorrow during museum hours (11:30 to 1 p.m.). I’ve cheated a little and checked out both pair of 450TLs and they both appear to have good filaments.

Not a major milestone but it does answer some major questions: the tubes are quite expensive, so it is likely that they are good, the PA filament transformer would be a major item, so it looks good and the cabinet wiring that feeds the tubes appears to be good.

Next step is to test the power control chassis. That will allow us to make sure all the power sequencing relays are functioning properly. After that checks out, we’ll reinstall the unit and start system wiring checkout.

Still lots of cleanup work and lots of “systems” work to be done.
